Soulbind

Soulbind is the explicit manipulation of an actual soul.

Soulbinding rites may capture, anchor, coerce or imprison a soul. They act upon a continuing spirit rather than merely moving the remains it once inhabited.

This makes Soulbind categorically different from Animate Dead. Animate Dead moves soulless remains and does not restore the deceased person's identity, memory or personality.

The distinction describes what the magic acts upon. It does not by itself assign a moral alignment to every practitioner or use.
