Darkness

Darkness is a true element and the counterpart of Light.

Elemental darkness is something that can be channeled, shaped and given as an aspect. It is not inherently evil, and it is not death energy or Void.

Uses of the word

The word darkness can also describe missing visible light, a dark appearance or a magical tradition. Those ordinary uses do not automatically identify the element.

Inherited names such as dark magic do not determine the force that an ability actually uses. Each effect must be classified by what it does, not by its name alone.

Common confusion

Darkness, death energy and Void can appear similar to an observer. Trained scholars can reliably distinguish darkness from death, while genuine understanding of Void remains rare even among scholars.
